The National Reading Coalition in partnership provincial education departments have held MECs Book Clubs to encourage a culture of reading from senior level to classroom and community level.
On 26 March the North West MEC, Viola Motsumi launched the book club at ZM Seatlholo Secondary School in Lotlhakane village, while the MEC of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mbalenhle Cleopatra Frazer launched the provinces book club on 06 May at Estcourt Primary School. The book club sessions take the form of a book review discussions led by a panel of esteemed community members alike award winning author Social Entepreneurs, Academics.
The adage - "You are never too old to learn" has been personified by this collaboration led by provincial MECs in the quest to inspire learners and parents/guardians to adopt reading in their daily routines.
